About ADAPVC
The Associação para Defesa do Artesanato e Património de Vila do Conde (ADAPVC) is a cultural association founded in 1984 to preserve and promote traditional crafts and heritage. Rooted in Vila do Conde, Portugal, it began with a focus on the town’s centuries-old bobbin lace and has expanded its work through cultural events, artistic education and community projects. Its mission is to safeguard, recognise and support the sustainable development of traditional craft production, while making cultural learning through the arts accessible to all.
ADAPVC organises the Feira Nacional de Artesanato, the Presépios de Portugal exhibition and the Santos Populares exhibition, supporting both traditional skills and contemporary craft. It promotes Vila do Conde bobbin lace through education, public initiatives and an online shop. The association also manages the Conservatory of Music and the School of Dance in Vila do Conde, and runs the PROFILAR project to broaden access to music education. Its wider activities include cultural programming and events related to gastronomy.
