Addiction lessons

Addiction Lessons is a free educational resource for parents, partners, and other family members supporting someone with addiction. Created by a father drawing on his experience with his son’s near-fatal addiction, the site shares personal, practical insights to help families feel understood and find hope during a difficult time.

Its core offering is a collection of 12 short stories about lessons learned while living through a loved one’s addiction. Each story takes about two to four minutes to read and is intended to make key experiences easier to recognize and navigate. The site also encourages families to learn Community Reinforcement and Family Training (CRAFT), an evidence-based approach described as helping families and their loved ones affected by addiction. Additional resources point readers toward treatment and support, including SAMHSA’s National Helpline and crisis services.
