ADENE

ADENE, the Portuguese Energy Agency, is a nonprofit organization that promotes energy efficiency and sustainability in Portugal. Its mission is to support the energy transition by contributing to public policies and helping citizens, businesses, and institutions build the knowledge and capacity to use resources responsibly. ADENE works across energy and water efficiency, renewable energy, sustainable mobility, the circular economy, climate action, and energy poverty. Its responsibilities include managing Portugal’s building energy certification system, supporting efficient buildings and industrial energy use, assessing organizational performance, and providing technical training and energy literacy.

The agency offers practical tools, programs, and initiatives to help users improve performance and reduce resource consumption. These include AQUA+, a water-performance classification for buildings; MOVE+, an energy-performance rating for organizational vehicle fleets; and support for ECO.AP, the public administration’s resource-efficiency and decarbonization program. ADENE also provides information on building energy certificates, electric mobility, and sustainability, and shares research, news, articles, and the Toda a Energia podcast. Through these activities, it helps advance a more efficient, sustainable, and resilient Portugal.
