Adfam

Adfam is a registered charity supporting and campaigning for people in England affected by a family member or friend’s drinking, drug use or gambling. Its work recognises that substance use and gambling can affect whole families, and aims to help those close to someone experiencing difficulties feel better informed and less alone.

For families, Adfam provides clear information, access to one-to-one support, and an online forum where people can share experiences, ask questions and support one another. Its video series, featuring experienced counsellor Peter Cartwright, offers guidance on topics such as talking about substance use, setting boundaries, managing conflict, coping with stigma and dealing with bereavement. The charity also maintains a library of resources for further information.

Adfam supports professionals too, offering training and events for frontline workers on how to assist families affected by substance use. Visitors can find news, blogs and personal stories, explore other support services, and learn about fundraising to help sustain the charity’s work.
