About Africa Digital Financial Inclusion Facility
The Africa Digital Financial Inclusion Facility (ADFI) is a key advocate for digital financial inclusion in Africa. Launched in 2019, ADFI works to overcome barriers and promote the growth, uptake, and use of digital financial solutions throughout the continent, with a particular focus on women, micro, and small businesses. As a blended finance vehicle, ADFI brings together various partners, including the African Development Bank, Agence française de développement, the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, and more, to make strategic investments in the digital financial services (DFS) ecosystem.
ADFI's primary mission is to ensure universal access to quality digital financial services that foster inclusive growth across Africa. They achieve this by providing loans and grants to public and private entities, including financial service providers, government agencies, mobile operators, and fintech companies. Through capacity building and gender inclusion, ADFI aims to scale innovative DFS solutions and achieve greater integration throughout the continent.
