AdLit is a national multimedia education project from WETA, the flagship public broadcasting station in Washington, D.C. It provides educators, families, and others with research-based resources to help middle and high school students become stronger readers and writers. The site explores adolescent literacy, including motivation, comprehension, fluency, vocabulary, English language learning, content-area literacy, and literacy interventions. Its practical teaching resources include a free library of reading and writing strategies, downloadable templates, classroom videos, professional development webcasts, expert answers, research, reports, and guides.
AdLit also supports the discovery and discussion of middle-grade and young adult literature. Visitors can explore diverse books, themed booklists, author interviews, book discussion guides, awards, and an author study toolkit. Additional features include literacy articles, videos, and resources on topics such as college readiness, autism spectrum disorder, trauma, and writing. Through these materials, AdLit connects evidence-informed guidance with engaging stories and classroom practices, helping adults support young people’s literacy development across subjects and reading experiences.
