About Dunkirk Little Ships
The Association of Dunkirk Little Ships (ADLS) is dedicated to preserving the legacy of the small vessels that played a pivotal role in the historic Dunkirk evacuations during World War II, specifically Operations Dynamo, Cycle, and Aerial in May and June 1940. This registered association brings together contemporary owners of these "Little Ships," fostering a community committed to maintaining their memory and significance. Participants in the Dunkirk evacuation included approximately 850 private boats and 20 warships, highlighting the important contributions of various maritime crafts, from fishing vessels to pleasure steamers.
ADLS organizes events throughout the year to promote public awareness, celebrate the heritage of Dunkirk's maritime history, and facilitate networking among members. In addition to commemorating historical events, the ADLS also provides resources for individuals seeking to determine if their boats participated in these momentous operations. As a not-for-profit organization, the ADLS thrives on the enthusiasm and support of its members, as it brings together a passionate community dedicated to honoring the "Spirit of Dunkirk."
