Adopteer Regenwoud is a CBF-recognised, ANBI-registered nonprofit working to protect and restore tropical rainforest in Costa Rica alongside local communities. Supporters can adopt rainforest from €2.50 per square metre, helping the organisation acquire and safeguard threatened forest for the long term. It also offers rainforest gifts, including a personal adoption certificate, as well as fundraising campaigns, business partnerships, corporate donations and legacy giving.
The organisation’s work spans four areas: protecting existing rainforest, restoring former forest through reforestation, researching biodiversity and strengthening nature, and raising awareness through education and local employment. Its reserve has expanded over time, including a connection to Barbilla National Park, and projects have planted tens of thousands of trees with the care of local workers. Adopteer Regenwoud also supports biodiversity research, workshops and educational activities, and shares updates and documentaries about its work. Its stated ambition is to acquire and protect 2,000 hectares, helping preserve habitat for wildlife and support a future for the rainforest and local communities.
