Adrian Brandon is an artist whose portfolio presents work exploring identity, loss, and the stories behind individual lives. Through the Stolen Series, Brandon honors Black people who were killed by police, using portraiture to reflect on grief, time, and the lives left unfinished. Each portrait is colored for one minute per year of the person’s life; for example, Tamir Rice’s portrait was colored for 12 minutes. Ink and graphite on paper, the works measure 11 by 14 inches. The series uses the contrast between the brief act of coloring and the permanence of death to draw attention to the absence felt by families and communities, and to the futures that can never be known.
The website features Brandon’s portfolio and a shop, where visitors can explore the artist’s work. Visitors may also subscribe by email for early access to the next “Freehand” drop. The site provides a contact email for inquiries and updates, and identifies the studio as Brandon Studios.
