Advancing MNCH

Advancing Maternal, Newborn & Child Health (AdvancingMNCH) is a collaborative group of researchers and implementers working on maternal, newborn, and child health projects in low-resource settings worldwide. Based at the UCSF Institute for Global Health Sciences, the group aims to help end preventable mortality and morbidity through collaborative implementation research and cooperative action. Its work examines strategies to improve access to care and the quality of care, including services delivered in health facilities and communities.

AdvancingMNCH brings together partners to study and support practical approaches to health challenges. Featured projects address topics such as life-skills and health empowerment for young married women in India, coordination across maternal and newborn care networks in Zimbabwe, and child development observation. The group also shares research publications, case studies, reports, briefs, and best practices through its Knowledge Hub. Resources cover areas including gender equity, respectful maternity care, and obstetric complications. Events and practical guidance connect researchers, healthcare providers, and partners around implementation challenges and opportunities.
