Advocate Health is a diabetes education and support service based in Nerang, Queensland, led by Melissa Tait, a Credentialled Diabetes Educator and Clinical Nurse Specialist with more than 15 years of experience across hospital, community and remote settings. The service provides individual, person-centred education to help people build safe self-management skills and work toward their health goals, in collaboration with families, carers and multidisciplinary care teams.

Areas of support include Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes, LADA, new diagnoses, gestational diabetes, diabetes during pregnancy, pre-pregnancy planning, insulin commencement and diabetes management alongside steroid therapy. Advocate Health also offers guidance on diabetes technology, including insulin pump therapy and upgrades, flash glucose monitoring and continuous glucose monitoring systems. Melissa is a certified insulin pump trainer and provides education for health professionals.

Appointments are available face to face for up to 60 minutes, with mobile service by request. Referral and payment pathways include GP Chronic Disease Care Plans, NDIS, DVA and private fees.
