AdWren is a local advertising platform in development, designed to connect businesses with readers of independent local news publications. Starting with a pilot in Ireland, it aims to make advertising simpler for small businesses while helping publishers make local ad bookings easier to manage. Businesses will be able to create an ad using their website or by supplying a photo and short description, with AI assistance to shape the creative.

They can then browse participating news sites, select an available placement and dates, review the price, and submit the ad for publisher approval. Advertisers can review and edit their design before booking, and are intended to be able to see results and book again. Independent publishers retain control over their publication, pricing, placements, availability, and approval of every ad.

AdWren brings creative, booking, approval, payment, and reporting into a single workflow intended to reduce email and administrative effort. The service is currently at the pilot stage; businesses and publishers can join the early-access list to express interest
