The Alternative Energy Promotion Centre (AEPC) is a Government of Nepal institution established in 1996 to develop and promote renewable and alternative energy technologies. Now operating under the Ministry of Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation, AEPC also works in energy efficiency, climate change and carbon mitigation. Its mission is to make renewable energy and energy efficiency mainstream by expanding access, knowledge and adoption, improving living conditions in Nepal and contributing to global climate action.
AEPC supports a broad range of technologies and initiatives, including solar power, solar water pumping, solar mini-grids and home systems, bioenergy, biogas, improved cookstoves, wind and mini- and micro-hydropower. It also promotes energy audits, energy management and efficiency standards. The centre provides technical resources, training materials, project guidance, forms, standards, data and programme information for communities, institutions and project partners.
Through national and regional programmes, funding mechanisms, technical support and outreach, AEPC helps advance practical clean-energy solutions. It is Nepal’s first accredited Direct Access Entity to the Green Climate Fund
