AFA Chantada

AFA Chantada is a nonprofit association founded on 21 November 2004 to improve the quality of life of people with Alzheimer’s disease and other neurodegenerative dementias, their families, and caregivers. Based in Chantada, Lugo, Spain, the organisation provides comprehensive support through a multidisciplinary team, working alongside family members, caregivers, and volunteers.

Its services include the Marita Otero Day Centre, therapeutic stimulation, support to prevent dependency, and active-ageing and early-detection programmes. These programmes are offered in home and rural settings, helping extend support beyond the centre. AFA Chantada also provides individual psychology services and a support office for women caregivers. Its volunteer programme offers another way for people to contribute to the association’s work.

The organisation shares information about Alzheimer’s disease and dementia and offers guidance for people who have recently received a diagnosis, caregivers, professionals, and others seeking help or wishing to support its mission.
