AFANNES Toledo is a private, nonprofit organization established in 2004 to support people with intellectual or developmental disabilities and rare diseases, as well as their families. Declared an organization of public utility in 2013, it is part of Plena Inclusión Castilla-La Mancha, the Autism Federation of Castilla-La Mancha, and the regional alliance of rare disease associations.
The organization’s mission is to provide support and opportunities that help each person and family shape their own life project and promote inclusion in the community. Its work is guided by an ethical commitment and an increasingly participatory approach that gives people a voice in decisions affecting them. AFANNES offers services and activities for the people it supports, and promotes inclusive sport through the CEI-AFANNES Toledo basketball club. Its initiatives also include employment-related opportunities, such as practical work placements designed to help participants gain experience. Families and community members can contribute through volunteering, donations, partnerships, and sponsorships.
