American Friends of CRP (AFCRP) is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit that raises funds in the United States for the Centre for the Rehabilitation of the Paralysed (CRP) in Bangladesh. Founded in 1979 by Valerie A. Taylor, CRP operates 14 centres and served 129,471 patients last year. AFCRP’s purpose is to help people with disabilities access care, education, and opportunities for greater independence.
Donations support medical treatment and rehabilitation, including physiotherapy, surgery, and outpatient services, as well as educational and vocational training programs. Funding also helps provide assistive technology and community inclusion initiatives. CRP offers pediatric rehabilitation and supports people through programs that can help them develop skills, pursue education, and participate in community life.
AFCRP accepts donations by card, PayPal, and check, and also accepts Zakat. Donations are tax-deductible, and the organization states that negligible administrative fees mean almost 100% of contributions go directly to CRP. Through donor participation and fundraising, AFCRP connects supporters with CRP’s work across Bangladesh.
