The Armed Forces Division (AFD) of Bangladesh is a government division under the Prime Minister’s Office. It holds ministerial status and works alongside the Ministry of Defence on matters concerning the country’s armed forces. AFD serves as the joint coordinating headquarters for the Bangladesh Army, Bangladesh Navy and Bangladesh Air Force, and is designated to function as a Joint Command Centre during wartime.

In peacetime, it coordinates government approvals and activities related to operations, planning, training, intelligence, civil-military relations, administration and logistics. The division supports the armed forces’ responsibility to protect Bangladesh’s sovereignty and territorial integrity across land, sea and air, as well as national cohesion. Its work also includes procurement coordination, defence policy, military education and training, and Bangladesh’s participation in United Nations peace operations.
