About AFFCAD
AFFCAD, which stands for Action for Fundamental Change and Development, is a prominent nonprofit organization dedicated to combating poverty in Uganda. Established in 2009 by four young individuals residing in the slums of Bwaise in Kampala, AFFCAD aims to improve the living conditions in urban communities through their Economic Empowerment, Education, and Health Programs. Their Economic Empowerment Program enables AFFCAD to create sustainable employment opportunities for disadvantaged youth, including persons with disabilities and refugees.
Through the Education Program, AFFCAD provides quality formal education to children and youth living in the slums. Additionally, their Health Program focuses on increasing access to comprehensive sexual reproductive health information and services in Kampala's slums. AFFCAD's strategic objectives revolve around empowering youth with vocational and business skills, increasing access to quality education, improving young people's access to inclusive healthcare, and strengthening organizational capacity.
They also actively engage in advocacy to enhance partnerships and collaborations. With several entities under their umbrella, including AFFCAD UK, AFFCAD Business and Vocational Institute, and AFFCAD School, AFFCAD makes a significant impact. They have improved the livelihoods of over 6,000 youths, provided SRHR services to 5,000 youths, established safe spaces for girls, and ensured quality education for 1,257 children.
Join AFFCAD in their mission to bring fundamental change and development to Uganda's vulnerable communities by supporting them through donations or staying connected through their newsletter and social media channels. Together, we can transform lives and create sustainable and dignified futures for children, women, and youth in Kampala's slum communities
