About Artists For Humanity
Artists For Humanity (AFH) is a brand that provides under-resourced teens with the opportunity for self-sufficiency through paid employment in the field of art and design. With a focus on creativity as a tool for social change, AFH offers a range of products and services aimed at enriching the lives of urban communities. Teenagers who join AFH have access to a variety of benefits, including job opportunities with competitive wages, mentorship programs to develop their artistic and entrepreneurial skills, and exposure to exciting career possibilities.
AFH also offers a productive and fun environment for teens to spend their time after school, engaging in experiential arts and STEM learning. Since its establishment, AFH has made significant strides in bridging economic, racial, and social divides by introducing young people's creativity to the business community. The organization employs over 325 Boston teens annually, providing them with apprenticeships in the visual arts and creative industries.
In 2004, AFH constructed Boston's first Platinum LEED-certified facility, the Artists For Humanity EpiCenter, solidifying its commitment to leadership and vision in the community. AFH continues to focus on interdisciplinary arts and STEM learning, preparing its youth apprentices for emerging workforce and educational pathways. Being one of the largest on-site employers of Boston young people, AFH plays a vital role in enhancing their future earning potential and employability.
By offering employment opportunities, cultural experiences, and academic support, AFH equips teens with the skills needed for successful, self-sufficient futures. Furthermore, AFH's commitment to college readiness and retention ensures that program alumni have ongoing support and access to resources, fostering their continued success in higher education. By using creativity and design as vehicles for social change, AFH creates a positive impact on the lives of under-resourced teens and their communities
