About Aflplayers
AFL Players’ Association is the official representative body for current, past, and future AFL players. Founded in 1973, it has grown in size and influence, now representing over 800 current male players, 550 current female players, and close to 5000 past player members. The association is passionate about instilling a sense of integrity and belonging and showcasing its members as people first and athletes second.
Throughout its history, the AFLPA has achieved significant milestones, such as negotiating the introduction of free agency in 2010 and winning a new six-year collective bargaining agreement tied to the industry's revenue in 2017. They are dedicated to the welfare of players and have player representatives on their board from every club. In addition, through AFL Players Care, their official charity initiative, they have donated more than $2 million to charities across Australia.
