AForClimate

AForClimate is a pioneering project dedicated to enhancing forestry and forest planning in response to ongoing climate change. Operating under the LIFE program, it aims to provide essential tools for sustainable forest management, focusing particularly on beech forests (Fagus sylvatica) across three geographical regions: Tuscany, Sicily, and Molise. The initiative encompasses 17 distinct actions, including preparatory tasks, implementation, monitoring, and communication strategies, ensuring a comprehensive approach to adapting forestry practices to climate variability.

Key offerings include the development of effective silvicultural interventions strategically timed to maximize forest productivity, alongside constant monitoring models to evaluate the impact of these interventions on forest capacity, regeneration, and biodiversity. AForClimate also fosters collaboration among a diverse partnership of research institutions, regional authorities, and private companies, while providing accessible resources, guidelines, and publications to keep stakeholders informed and engaged. With a commitment to innovation and education, AForClimate is a critical player in promoting sustainable forestry practices in the face of climate change.
