Africa Minigrid Developers Association (AMDA) is an industry association representing private utilities that develop small, renewable, localized power grids in Africa. With 42 members across 19 African countries, AMDA aims to end energy poverty across the continent by building public-private partnerships with governments. AMDA's mission is to ensure that minigrids are effectively utilized by governments and donors, and that the policy and financing environment supports their radical scale.

They leverage private capital and efficiency to electrify Africa and promote sustainable energy access. The association follows eight guiding principles, including the adherence to high levels of consumer safety, the establishment of a grid integration framework, and the creation of a tariff framework that recognizes the additional value provided by mini-grids. AMDA also advocates for streamlined permitting processes, subsidy parity for mini-grid operators, and infrastructure financing to support the growth of the sector.
