About AfricanDefenders
AfricanDefenders is a Pan-African Human Rights Defenders Network, composed of five sub-regional organizations dedicated to promoting and protecting human rights defenders (HRDs) across the African continent. Our mission is to empower and support the frontline HRDs who raise their voices for those who cannot speak up. We believe that wherever you are, you are part of a global movement.
Our network covers the entire African continent, and each sub-regional organization plays a crucial role in advocating for the rights and safety of HRDs. We also honor exceptional individuals through the African Human Rights Defenders Shield Awards, recognizing their contributions to positive change in their communities.
In addition, our Ubuntu Hub Cities initiative provides a relocation opportunity for HRDs at risk, creating safe spaces for them to continue their valuable work.
