About African Origins
African Origins is the leading Kalahari Melon Oil producer in the world, based in the North West Province of South Africa. Our journey began over ten years ago when a climate change intervention led us to discover the hidden potential of the Kalahari Melon. Previously regarded as a valueless weed, we found that the seeds of this resilient plant contained a unique oil with high levels of essential fatty acids.
Not only was this oil stable, but the plant's drought-resistant biology made it incredibly sustainable. Today, our Kalahari Melon oil is creating a new economy in a drought-prone region, positively impacting remote communities affected by climate change. We have successfully marketed our ingredient to cosmetics companies worldwide, with sales across every continent except Antarctica.
