About African Reclaimers Organisation
African Reclaimers Organisation (ARO) is a membership-based democratic organization dedicated to working with reclaimers in residential areas and landfills in the City of Johannesburg. With a membership exceeding 5500, ARO's mission is to sort, collect, and sell recyclable materials while advocating for reclaimers' rights and full participation in society and the recycling economy.
Through various projects and campaigns, such as the 'Stop The COJ Recycling Levy' and the 'COVID-19 Response Programme,' ARO strives to support and empower reclaimers who have been significantly impacted by the pandemic and government policies.
