African Tails is a registered animal welfare organization, founded in 2006, that relies on donations to carry out the following work: • 𝗦𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘀𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 - We believe in being proactive rather than reactive—and sterilisation is the most effective way to combat the serious overpopulation of dogs and cats. Uncontrolled breeding leads to neglect, abuse, and countless animals without homes. • 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗰𝘂𝗲, 𝗥𝗲𝗵𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗥𝗲𝗵𝗼𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗴 - The animals in our care often come from situations where they were unwanted, found as strays, or rescued from neglectful or abusive environments. All rescued animals are placed in foster homes, where we provide food, medical care, and anything else they need until they’re adopted. • 𝗧𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 - We work with designated veterinarians who offer us welfare rates. Our veterinary expenses arise from treating newly rescued animals, those currently in our care, and animals in surrounding communities that require urgent medical attention. 𝗢𝘂𝗿 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗰𝘀: By the end of 2024, we have sterilised over 17,000 animals. We've found homes for more than 2,700 dogs and cats, fed over 17,000 animals in need, and provided more than 1,000 kennels to dogs without shelter. We've also organised and funded medical treatment for over 4,000 animals. None of this would be possible without the ongoing support of the caring public.
