African Violet Council of Florida

The African Violet Council of Florida (AVCF) is a nonprofit educational organization serving African violet enthusiasts across Florida. Its mission is to help people learn to grow, show, propagate, and hybridize African violets successfully. The council provides practical information through its website, including articles on cultivation and exhibiting, details about shows and conventions, and a directory of local African violet clubs. Visitors can also view photographs of African violets and related plants in the Gesneriad family.

AVCF organizes meetings and events, including conferences, and supports African violet shows where members may exhibit plants and designs or sell plants and supplies. The organization also offers educational opportunities through judging schools. Individual members pay annual dues and receive the quarterly newsletter, The Florida Connection, as well as voting rights. The council’s site includes information about membership, its history, leadership, affiliates, committees, and downloadable documents. With resources for both learning and participation, AVCF connects Florida growers and encourages appreciation of these distinctive plants.
