AfricanYSN is a brand that aims to address the gap in security discourse by providing a platform for young security professionals, academics, and enthusiasts in Africa. Founded by two Ghanaian youths with a deep interest in African security, AfricanYSN strives to include the youth perspective in security discussions that are often overlooked. By connecting and collaborating with like-minded individuals, AfricanYSN seeks to build a community where young individuals can develop their critical thinking, voice their opinions on security issues, and expand their knowledge within the African peace and security domain.

The team behind AfricanYSN consists of dedicated individuals with extensive academic and professional backgrounds in security-related fields. Leonie Mills, the founder, brings her expertise in communications and policy as well as a master's degree in Security, Leadership and Society from King's College London. Josephine Nanortey, the co-founder, is a Strategic Intelligence Analyst with a specialization in gender, peace, and security.

Sandra Asafo-Adjei, a Senior Research Associate, holds a Master of Arts degree in International Affairs. With a mission to empower young Africans and give them a voice, AfricanYSN is committed to making a positive impact within the African security landscape
