About Africa PID Alliance
Africa PID Alliance, part of the Open Infrastructure Program of the University of Nairobi, is dedicated to securing the future of African Innovation, Indigenous Knowledge, and Cultural Heritage. By providing reliable open research infrastructure services, we aim to make knowledge and metadata about digital objects more accessible, starting from Africa. Our innovative projects focus on producing Persistent Identifiers (PIDs) to address the lack of digitization in Africa.
We specialize in linking local handle IDs with DOIs to consolidate data on patents, indigenous knowledge, and cultural heritage in one digital object container. Through partnerships with industry leaders like Crossref and Datacite, we are working to enhance research accessibility in Africa. Join us in our mission to promote open research, strengthen infrastructure, and preserve Africa's rich cultural heritage
