AFRO

The African Family Revival Organization (AFRO) is a community-led mutual aid organization serving Black and African communities in the Waterloo Region. Its mission is to strengthen families and help individuals participate in Canadian society as confident, informed, and engaged citizens. AFRO works to reduce barriers and promote wellness, equity, cultural pride, and connection through inclusive programs, advocacy, and community partnerships.

Its services span multiple generations and areas of well-being. Youth programs offer supportive spaces for children and teens to build confidence, leadership, and positive relationships. The Empowering Girls Program provides mentorship, self-esteem development, and healthy lifestyle education, while the Mother–Daughter Program encourages shared learning and open dialogue. AFRO also offers parenting support, seniors programs, and Support Through the Generations, which connects youth, parents, and older adults. Its Cultural Enrichment Program celebrates African and Black heritage, and the Black Mental Health Campaign provides culturally grounded education, safe spaces, and community-based support. Through these initiatives, AFRO aims to foster stronger families and a more connected, supportive Waterloo Region.
