AFSCME Local 199 is a brand dedicated to supporting working families and union members in the challenging times faced in south Florida. With a strong commitment to job security, wages, and benefits, Local 199 represents 9,000 Miami-Dade County employees across 26 departments. Through their new contract, they have successfully won back tens of millions of dollars in pay concessions, including flex pay, premium pay, and holiday pay that were relinquished during the economic crisis.
By standing strong, Local 199 achieved a wage increase, ended furloughs, and ensured quality health coverage for members and their families. Building on this success, Local 199 has a vision to protect the future and financial security of its members, grow communities, and become a union that connects all public service workers. Joining AFSCME Local 199 means being part of a strong union that has power in the workplace, at the bargaining table, and with elected leaders.
