About ATIA
Afta, also known as the Australian Travel Industry Association (ATIA), is a prominent industry body representing the interests of travel professionals and businesses. Established in 1957 as the Australian Federation of Travel Agents, Afta aims to elevate the professionalism of travel professionals. They achieve this through effective representation in industry and government affairs, advocating for changes to education and training, and providing business support and advice.
Afta is also responsible for administering the national travel accreditation scheme called ATAS. This scheme ensures that travel businesses meet the required standards in Australia. Afta plays a crucial role in addressing key issues concerning travel businesses at both state and federal levels.
They act as a watchdog, advocating for the industry through media representation and lobbying efforts. Aside from their policy and promotion involvement, Afta offers various member benefits such as financial, legal, marketing, accounting, education, and training support. They also collaborate with organizations and industry associations to secure the position of travel professionals.
Afta's commitment to enhancing professionalism, industry representation, and member support makes them a trusted authority in the travel and tourism industry
