AG Regionalportale

The Arbeitsgemeinschaft deutschsprachiger Portale zur Regionalgeschichte und Landeskunde (AG Regionalportale) is a collaborative network for people who develop or operate online portals devoted to regional and local history and cultural studies across the German-speaking world. Founded in 2007 by the Bavarian State Library and the Westphalian History portal, it expanded in 2017 to welcome portals from other German-speaking countries. Its members work in archives, libraries, museums, research organizations, and related institutions. Participating portals are expected to meet scholarly standards and be regularly maintained.

The AG provides a platform for exchanging knowledge, connecting portal teams, and strengthening interdisciplinary cooperation. It organizes an annual, non-public meeting at changing locations, featuring opportunities for professional discussion, presentations, and excursions. Members can also use a closed mailing list to continue collegial, subject-focused discussion between meetings. The association’s website shares information about its activities and meeting outcomes with the public, while its office supports continuity and helps coordinate events with host institutions. The network includes members in Belgium, Germany, Liechtenstein, Austria, and Switzerland.
