Against the Grain Woodworking & Design is a home-focused woodworking and interior design business founded by Jorie, whose lifelong interest in homes, decor, and craftsmanship grew from time spent with her grandfather, a finish carpenter. Jorie combines design thinking with hands-on skills to help clients create spaces that feel personal, practical, and full of character. Her services include woodworking, interior design, painting, and the refinishing, reupholstery, and restoration of furniture and home features.
Projects range from refreshing fireplaces, built-in bookcases, and window trim to transforming dining and living rooms or giving a cherished chair a new look. The process begins with a conversation and project proposal, followed by collaborative design decisions about elements such as wood species, paint colors, tile, and fabrics. Jorie then completes the work in the client’s home or her workshop and presents the finished result.
Against the Grain Woodworking & Design aims to make the experience straightforward and collaborative, helping clients bring their ideas for a more beautiful home to life
