AgeKey is a privacy-focused age verification service developed as part of the OpenAge Initiative. It lets people create a reusable age credential, called an AgeKey, and save it as a passkey on a device or password manager. After completing a one-time age check, users can present their AgeKey on compatible websites without repeatedly verifying their age or disclosing personal information.

The service is designed to be simple and secure, using FIDO2 passkey technology and screen-unlock validation rather than an account or password. According to AgeKey, it does not collect personal data for the credential or track which sites use it. A participating website receives only confirmation that a user meets its age requirement, not their exact age or verification details.

AgeKey provides tools to create and test an AgeKey, along with information, documentation, support, and frequently asked questions. The service is free to use, and the OpenAge website also offers a newsletter covering AgeKey developments and privacy-preserving technology.
