Dr. Akki's vision includes sharing profits from the sale of biofuel as electricity or renewable natural gas (RNG) with farm families. Through this unique partnership, each farm family is guaranteed a share of the profits generated by the digester on their property.

Ag-Grid Energy is the first and only developer to implement such a profit-sharing system. Initially starting with four farm partners in Massachusetts and Connecticut, Ag-Grid Energy has now expanded its projects to include larger farms in New York and Michigan. The brand's approach involves supplementing cow manure with commercial food waste from local businesses, resulting in a carbon-negative process.

Throughout its journey, Ag-Grid Energy has achieved significant milestones, including being the first developer to be granted permits for an anaerobic digester in Michigan and implementing innovative practices such as adding food depackagers to its Massachusetts farm to enable the acceptance of solid packaged food waste.
