AgroAtlas is an innovative project aimed at enhancing food security through comprehensive access to agricultural information. Launched in 2003, this bilingual platform integrates geographical information system (GIS) tools, allowing users to visualize data on crop distribution, associated pests, and environmental factors affecting agriculture. AgroAtlas serves a diverse audience, including farmers, students, and policymakers, by providing essential resources to identify optimal crops for specific locations and the potential challenges posed by diseases and pests.

The project features extensive data on crop wild relatives, crucial for the conservation and sustainable use of genetic resources in Russia and surrounding countries. With a focus on user-friendliness, AgroAtlas enables the download of individual GIS layers and a complete standalone Atlas DVD to facilitate research and education. Developed collaboratively by multiple institutes, including the St. Petersburg State University Geography Department and supported by agencies like the USDA, AgroAtlas is a vital tool for understanding and adapting to our changing agricultural landscape.
