About Agrovoltep
AGROVOLTEP is a pioneering initiative focused on promoting agrovoltaic systems across the border of Spain and Portugal. This project aims to seamlessly integrate energy production and agricultural practices, addressing the dual challenges of energy transition and sustainable agriculture. Through enhancing public policies and consolidating technical expertise, AGROVOLTEP engages stakeholders throughout the value chain, ensuring a collaborative approach to the agrovoltaic model.
The initiative is characterized by its commitment to establishing two pilot agrovoltaic stations, which will serve as testing grounds for effective technical solutions. AGROVOLTEP also prioritizes the development of support tools and services designed to facilitate the implementation of agrovoltaic systems.
By fostering participation from various sectors, including agricultural, environmental, and energy stakeholders, AGROVOLTEP strives to create a comprehensive Action Plan for agrovoltaics, thereby improving public policy and driving innovation in both regions. Launched in January 2023, the initiative is funded in part by the European Union's Interreg Program and plans to operate over three years.
