Akhter Hameed Khan Foundation (AHK-F) is a registered non-profit NGO that works tirelessly to uplift urban slums and informal settlements in Pakistan. Our mission is to empower marginalized communities through grassroots mobilization, access to information skills, and resource facilitation, following the development thinking of renowned Pakistani social scientist Akhter Hameed Khan. Our organization focuses on women-centered initiatives to enable self-sufficiency in low-income communities.

We partner with these communities to find sustainable local solutions for women's economic empowerment, household prosperity, and overall well-being. AHK-F addresses the limited access to quality healthcare in urban slums by implementing the community-based Aapis program. We also tackle barriers such as low educational attainment, mobility constraints, structural barriers, institutional gender discrimination, and inequalities through our efforts in economic empowerment.

Moreover, we started as a library for low-income children and young people, and our Digital Education Center in Dhok Hassu-Mangtal Rawalpindi is now a tuition cum learning space. Our reach extends across Pakistan, and we have successfully tackled various issues, including water and sanitation, health, home-based schools, microcredit, gender-based violence, governance, aid effectiveness, and evidence-based decision-making.
