About Ahlam
Ahlam Faris is an author whose passion for storytelling grew from a lifelong fascination with myth, legend, and adventure. Her work explores identity, destiny, and the balance between light and darkness, bringing together immersive settings shaped by culture, history, and folklore. Faris’s debut novel, Daughter of Light and Dark, is a young adult desert fantasy inspired by Arabian Nights and the mythology of the Jinn.
It follows Mina, who can see and speak with Jinn in a world where they are bound into rings. Determined to free her mother’s Jinn, Mina searches for eleven rings while facing scheming royals, a dangerous cult, and a world threatened by collapse. The story combines questions of belonging and liberation with magic, peril, and a heroine confronting her mysterious identity.
