About Friends of the Ahnapee State Trail
The Ahnapee State Trail is a multi-use recreational trail serving Kewaunee and Door counties in northeastern Wisconsin. Created from a former railroad corridor, it stretches about 50 miles between Kewaunee, Casco, Algoma, and Sturgeon Bay. Its firm, 8-to-10-foot-wide surface welcomes hikers, joggers, cyclists, horseback riders, and people traveling with horse-drawn carts, wagons, or buggies during the warmer months. In winter, visitors can use the trail for snowmobiling, fat biking, cross-country skiing, and snowshoeing. The route also connects with extensive snowmobile trail networks in both counties.
The trail’s website provides maps for viewing or download, safety information, trail condition contacts, event updates, and details about local recreational opportunities. Friends of the Ahnapee State Trail invites people to join, receive news about projects and proposals, and participate in volunteer opportunities. Donations support the trail’s maintenance, improvement, and promotion, helping preserve this regional resource for future generations. Visitors can also follow the Friends group on Facebook for additional information.
