AHS Crew

Albemarle Rowing is a competitive sculling team for high school-age rowers in Albemarle County, Virginia. Established in 2012, the program develops young athletes’ rowing abilities while encouraging skills and qualities that extend beyond the sport, including time management, discipline, perseverance, determination, tenacity, and humility. Its rowers have achieved strong results at regional, state, and national levels, earning recognition for the team as a distinguished competitive program.

The team practices on the Rivanna Reservoir from the Thomas Temple Allan Boathouse at the Magruder Dent, Jr. Rowing Center, which it shares with Rivanna Rowing Club and the University of Virginia’s rowing programs. The reservoir offers approximately five miles of protected, navigable water without power boat traffic. Albemarle High School Crew Boosters, Inc., a parent-run 501(c)(3) nonprofit, supports the program by managing assets, fundraising, and organizing events. Donations help fund rowing shells, launches, and regatta fees, while helping keep team dues as low as possible. The organization also provides team information, racing schedules, conditioning details, uniforms, and resources for parents and rowers.
