AIAO, the Italian Association of Ornamental Poultry, is a national Third Sector organisation and a major reference point for Italian poultry keepers and breeders. It brings together affiliated associations and breed clubs across the country, creating a shared network for people interested in ornamental poultry. Its work focuses on helping members exchange experience, information and resources, while supporting communication and cooperation among breeders and enthusiasts.

The association promotes the conservation and selective breeding of poultry breeds, including native varieties, with the stated aims of protecting biodiversity and supporting the sector’s sustainability. It also works with public bodies and other organisations involved in safeguarding poultry breeds. AIAO supports its community through specialist committees, a judges’ body, technical and scientific resources, publications, news and information for members. Its activities include coordinating and publicising poultry shows and other events, and providing guidance on show regulations, categories, breeds, rings and standards. Through its affiliated groups, services and events, AIAO offers a national forum for those involved in ornamental poultry and breed preservation.
