About AIAS Palermo ETS
AIAS Palermo Onlus is a non-profit organization that works towards advocating for and promoting the rights of disabled individuals in Italy. Established in 1954 by parents of children with cerebral palsy in Rome, the association aims to ensure that disabled individuals have access to rehabilitation, healthcare, education, employment, and social integration, in accordance with the Italian Constitution and the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. With the support of 8,500 members and the efforts of 96 sections, 4,000 professionals, and over a thousand volunteers, AIAS is currently active in 18 regions across Italy.
The organization operates various centers located in Palermo, including Via Ben Haukal, Via Bernini, Via Besio, Via Dante in Bagheria, Via Gramsci, Via Paruta, and Via Raiti. These centers provide domiciliary, outpatient, semi-residential, and residential rehabilitation services. To access these services, individuals are required to undergo specialist visits and submit a rehabilitation plan to the local health district.
