The Appraisal Institute of Canada is the leading real property valuation association in Canada, with over 5,000 members nationwide and around the world. For the past 85 years, the institute has been dedicated to advancing the real estate valuation profession for the benefit of both their members and the public. They work collaboratively with their 10 affiliated provincial associations to grant the prestigious Accredited Appraiser Canadian Institute (AACI™) and Canadian Residential Appraiser (CRA™) designations.

AIC offers various categories of membership based on an individual's career path or their role within the appraisal profession in Canada. Designated Members, with the P. App designation, adhere to AIC's Canadian Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice (CUSPAP) and undergo ongoing professional development.

AACI members are qualified to offer valuation and consulting services for all types of real property, while CRA members specialize in individual, undeveloped residential dwelling sites and dwellings containing no more than four self-contained family housing units. Candidate Members are individuals pursuing the AIC professional program of studies, preparing to complete the final requirements for professional designations.

They work actively in the appraisal profession under the guidance of designated members, gaining expertise and knowledge. As non-designated members, their assignments and identification must comply with the Canadian Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice and the institute's Code of Ethics.
