AICCM

The Australian Institute for the Conservation of Cultural Material (AICCM) is the professional organisation for conservators in Australia. Its members work across museums, art galleries, libraries, archives and private practice, caring for the country’s cultural heritage. The organisation brings together professional conservators, students, cultural heritage organisations and people in related fields, including archivists, architects, curators and librarians.

AICCM supports the conservation community through professional membership, special interest groups, state divisions, events, webinars and publications, including its Bulletin, e-News and conference proceedings. It promotes ethical and professional practice and provides information to help the public understand conservation and care for collections. Resources include a visual glossary, collection-care guidance, environmental guidelines and a directory for finding qualified conservators in private practice.

AICCM also shares practical disaster-planning and response information, with resources covering fires, floods and mould, and can offer advice on protecting collections and recovering damaged items. Through advocacy, awards, grants, educational opportunities and partnerships, the organisation helps strengthen conservation practice and support the preservation of Australia’s cultural heritage.
