AIGZOO, the Italian Association of Zoo Keepers, is a professional organization dedicated to strengthening the skills and connections of people who care for animals in zoos and aquariums. Its work focuses on the daily responsibilities of zoo keepers, including feeding animals, maintaining habitats, and supporting public demonstrations, as well as broader priorities in animal management, conservation, and environmental education. Since joining the International Congress of Zookeepers in 2018, AIGZOO has collaborated with institutions, associations, and professionals in Italy and across Europe to share expertise and resources.
The association organizes and sponsors training courses, practical workshops, seminars, conferences, and member events covering a wide range of species and topics, from animal welfare and enrichment to training, transport, and keeper-veterinarian collaboration. Through these activities, AIGZOO promotes professional development, national and international networking, and the exchange of knowledge among zoo keepers.
