Aiki Lane

Aiki Lane Aikido Club is a community in Herndon, Virginia, dedicated to sincere practice and learning in Aikido, the modern Japanese martial art known as the Art of Peace. The club offers classes for children, teens, and adults, welcoming students at different ages and levels. Kids Aikido, for ages 6–12, introduces fundamental movements, respect, discipline, and the enjoyment of learning in a safe environment. The teen program, for ages 13–18, focuses on technical precision, self-defense, personal strength, and harmony. Adult classes emphasize traditional Aikido techniques, self-improvement, and community connection.

Training explores hand techniques and wooden weapons, including the jo and bokken, alongside iaido and zazen meditation. Aikido at Aiki Lane is non-competitive, with practice centered on personal development rather than defeating an opponent. The club also hosts and attends seminars and summer camps, offering opportunities to learn from regional and international teachers. Current classes take place on Sundays, with separate sessions for children and adults. Aiki Lane invites newcomers to begin with a one-week free trial.
