Äimä ry

Äidit irti synnytysmasennuksesta Äimä ry, commonly known as Äimä, is an association supporting mothers who experience depression during pregnancy or after childbirth, as well as mothers who have experienced postpartum psychosis. Its work focuses on peer support and sharing information about these conditions with the wider community. The association offers several ways to connect with others, including online peer groups, a peer-support phone line, chat, support from trained peer mothers, and the Toivo peer-support app.

It also provides information about pregnancy-related depression, postpartum depression, baby blues, and postpartum psychosis, with answers to common questions and guidance on finding help. Äimä shares experiences and practical perspectives through its blog and podcast, and organizes events and expert talks. It provides information and resources for professionals, including material related to research and student theses.

Those who wish to support its work can become members, volunteer as peer-support mothers, or make a donation. Based in Helsinki, Äimä also works to raise awareness and advocate through networks
