Aimag Index is a prominent research center focused on evaluating and improving the competitiveness of Mongolia's 21 provinces. Established in 2012, its mission is to draw public attention to disparities between urban and rural areas and provide policymakers with reliable research data to enhance regional development. The center conducts comprehensive studies that assess the strengths and weaknesses of each province, identifying opportunities for sustainable growth.

Utilizing a framework of approximately 180 criteria across four main categories—including Economic Vitality and Governance Efficiency—Aimag Index produces annual reports that track competitive progress and facilitate comparative analyses among provinces. Their innovative approach helps to determine which provinces excel or lag in competitiveness and provides actionable insights for leveraging strengths and addressing weaknesses.
